Fire safety services

The fire safety checks and work most premises need, from extinguishers to the fire stopping hidden in your walls, carried out by our own engineers across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

Who is responsible for fire safety?

Fire safety law places the duty on the “responsible person”: the employer, owner, landlord, occupier or anyone else with control of the premises. GOV.UK names facilities managers, building managers and managing agents as examples. Where there’s more than one responsible person, they have to work together.

The responsible person must carry out and regularly review a fire risk assessment, and put in place and maintain appropriate fire safety measures. That includes the equipment and building features covered on this page.

How the pieces fit together

  • Fire risk assessment: identifies what’s needed in your premises, and is the starting point for everything else.
  • Extinguishers of the right types, in the right places, serviced every year.
  • Emergency lighting that works when the power fails, tested monthly and annually.
  • Signs that show the way out and where the equipment is.
  • Fire stopping that keeps fire-resisting walls and floors complete.

Bringing these onto one schedule, with one contact, makes them easier to keep in date and easier to evidence. How facilities compliance works
